Couples Sessions
Parenting unequivocally complexifies how to be in relationships. I don't think I really understood what was hard about marriage until we had kids.
And again: how do we find space for our partnership in the midst of so many other responsibilities, time commitments, stressors? And the ways that our relationships with our kids can so easily take precedent, and even the ways that our relationships with ourselves can take precedent.
How do we hold on to tending our relationship—while parenting? How do we communicate effectively through all the stress and overwhelm of parenting?
Undeniably the gendered, cultural expectations of us, in our individual parenting roles of Mother and Father, are different. And, it can be damn tricky to communicate from a heartful, open-hearted place with our partner, when we are overwhelmed, exhausted, and resentful.
We are in this together. And we need each other. All the more.
